ORC Spring 2021 - Week 7 - Cane Cabinet Upgrade

We are in week 7 of the Spring 2021 One room challenge and we just have 1 week for the final reveal.

We did have a lot of check list items finished this week and hopefully I should be able to complete the finishing touches and get with the decor. The progress we made this week is with the cabinets.

My original plan was to add reed to the cabinets as well. But after we have done all the reeded wall for the shelving, I decided I will do something else for the cabinets because it will be too much of the same pattern. Luckily, I had some extra cane left from my previous project (Breakfast nook) so tried it on one cabinet to see how it looks!

I really loved the cane look on the cabinets and decided to add cane to it.

You can get cane from Franks cane supply and this is what I have chosen for my projects.

Before we work with cane, we should make sure we soak the cane in water for about 20 mins.

We cut the cane to the measurements of the cabinet groove and stapled it to the cabinets.

Once we are done with the cane, we cut small trims from poplar wood boards and added them to the corners to finish the cane ends.

And finally painted the cabinets with the same color as the wall. I chose “Armadillo” from Behr paints. and I have linked my paint sprayer in my amazon storefront
