Sankranthi/pongal is a festival of harvest where farmers celebrate the harvest season of wheat/rice and grains. This year sankranthi I wanted to bring in authenticity of festive decor with wheat stalks.
Things we need for this decor are quite few – just some wheat stalks, straw mats and a bunch of marigold garlands.
I got the yellow pichwai saree and kalamkari fabric from my trip to India and have painted the straw mats with red spray paint and fixed these to the wall using push pins. You can replace the pichwai saree with the straw mats itself and have a nice contrast painted on them and can have a kalamkari painting print out in the middle.
or you can even add the muggu backdrop cloths that I have listed above in the middle panel.
I have got the pichwai cow cutouts from Trovecraft and are also available on ETSY
The process of creating the wheat stalks garland is shown in the below video in detail.
And the decor pictures are here for you….
Beautiful decor ❤️ Love the idea of spray painting mats 👏🏻
Thank you so much roopini
