DIY Sankranthi/Bhogi Decor

Event Backdrop Decor 0 comments

A very Happy new year to all of you. Sankranthi/Pingal is a festival that is celebrated in south India and we celebrate for 3 days – 1st being bhogi, 2nd Sankranthi/Pongal and 3rd kanuma. On the first day, Bhogi we have a special ritual where the kids are showered with gooseberries, flowers, small pieces of sugarcane, coins and yellow dry rice (akshanthalu) to protect them from all evil forces and wish them a healthy and prosporous life.

On the event of bhogi, all kids are dressed and we would love to decorate for them. This small backdrop decoration was made for that specific bhogi pandlu event. But the idea can be used for any event like housewarming, any pooja decor, seemantham (baby shower), or even for simple wedding events like pellikoduku/pellikuthuru or satyanarayana pooja. The things used in the decoration have been added in my amazon storefront on amazon India and US amazon.

Materials used:

  • Yellow raw silk fabric or banaras fabric
  • Pink tulle/net fabric
  • Colorful torans and tassels C
  • A small canvas hand painted with kolam design
  • Jasmine garland strings

Please refer to the below links for amazon storefront for all the products used in the decorations:

Note: if you are doing it for bigger events, you can hang the fabrics to the drape stand. Have added that in the amazon list as well.
