Every year, I create a new version of the Ammavaru crown. It’s a piece of jewelry that is not only easy to make with simple materials but also incredibly versatile, allowing for an amazing number of variations. Each version can transform the appearance of Ammavaru, and I’ve shared my previous designs on the blog before. Here is one I made with hot glue and jewelry. It was quick to put together and looked stunning on my Ammavaru.
Materials required
- Dancer’s side bun
- Hot glue
- Beads necklace with a pendant
- Cardboard box
- Scrunchie
- Crown
Step-by-step instructions
- Start by cutting a dollar store plastic glass in half.
- Place the dancer’s bun and the half of the plastic glass on a cardboard box, one below the other. Trace around both, leaving an extra half-inch margin to glue decorations later.
- Cut out the traced shape from the cardboard.
- Glue the dancer’s bun onto the cardboard cutout.
- Next, glue the plastic glass onto the cardboard, just above the bun.
- Securely glue the crown piece to the plastic glass section, making sure it’s attached from all sides.
- Insert a scrunchie into the space where the glass cutout and crown meet, and glue it in place. This will help keep the crown on Ammavaru’s head.
- Glue the pendant of a bead necklace to the center of the bun. Then, glue the beads around the edges of the dancer’s bun to complete the decoration.
Your crown is now ready, made with just hot glue, scissors, and a few jewels!
