I have seen a lot of pictures on pinterest about glazed wall effect but haven’t seen clear instructions on how we can get the effect. Specially how to get nice gold look on the wall. Our insta friend Bijal has created this effect in her home and have given us clear instruction on how to achieve this look.
Bijal is one creative lady who does some lovely DIY projects all over her house, and is a beautiful artist who does some lovely paintings. I was awestruck with all her simple yet elegant DIY projects. Specially love the way she transformed her bench into a swing and the way she added block print blocks as door knobs for a Barn door. Infact, they did their own home remodel project and every room transformation is just amazing. Do checkout her profile on instagram 🙂
So for this project we need the below things:
- Wall paint of your choice.
- Valspar Clear glaze as shown below from
- Clean sponge
- Gold sharpie large size
Stippling effect:
Stippling painting technique imparts a subtle dimensional look to your wall using a sponge. Its one of the easiest way to give a raised texture to the walls.
Before you begin:
- Prepare the wall by taping it in the edges and corners and place some drop cloths.
- Prepare the glazed paint by mixing the paint and the glazing medium with 1 part paint and 1/2 part glazing medium.
Start Painting the wall:
- Take a dab of paint in the sponge and remove the excess paint and stipple it on the wall as shown in the below video
- Repeat the whole wall with the same technique.
- Once the wall is completely painted. Use a chalk to add some embellishment design.
- Bijal used the lotus design on the wall
Then take the gold sharpie and trace on the chalk design.
This is how the wall would look once you finish the entire gold painting. Aren’t you amazed with how beautiful the wall looks.
