California Adobe

This house in California is a cute townhome which I first saw on a video call with Priyanka. Designing home online is not quite an easy task.

You need pictures and videos to talk through the space and you should be very keen on taking measurements of every corner to gauge what items can suit the space and plan accordingly.

This project was one such online designing project and it took a lot of effort figuring the furniture pieces and wall decor that fit the space well and yet not create a busy look.

The spaces we wanted to work on were the living room, dining foyer, entryway and the stairway. We shall go by each space in detail through this post.

Living Room:

It is so much fun to start a space with a blank canvas. We decided to go bold with seating and neutralize the other furniture pieces in wood toned midcentury style. This is the mood board that was created for the living room.

We worked on keeping the colors consistent as per the mood board, and added a nice colorful rug. Priyanka had an eye on this brass hammered coffee table from Worldmarket, so we have taken that for the coffee table. The blue velvet sofa, sofa table and the chairs are all from Wayfair.

The living room is quite spacious and have perfect corners for a sofa table, or an end lamp. I would like to mention about that beautiful studio light that we had picked. It was purchased by my friend from etsy and I so loved it from the day I saw it. Priyanka had loved this suggestion and grabbed it on the go for her home to adorn the corner of her living room.

I wanted to do a blend of modern decor with Indian ethnic elements for accent decor in this home. So we had picked a beautiful sculpture from Zufolodesigns when Priyanka traveled to India. All the other stuff on the sofa table are randomly picked from home goods and amazon.

The subtle wall art pieces we had picked from home goods (me doing the selections on video calls :P) were the showstoppers for the backdrop wall.

The window treatments that you see in the above picture have been selected from blinds.com

Tv walls:

This is the space where we can have the TV. We wanted to have a nice mid-century TV bench with gold accents. We found a really pretty bench in Walmart latest MODRN collection, so wanted to try that.

And to the adjacent wall, we wanted to do a nice gallery wall with family portraits and decor. We selected a photo ledge from and some hanging wall decor from amazon(will be sharing the amazon shopping list in the end).

Priyanka had a set of box speakers which actually blended so well with the midcentury decor we choose. Love the way the corner turned out.

Dining Space:

The dining space is pretty small space and priyanka did not want to add the dining table in the space, instead she wanted to keep it simple it just adding some bar stools and re purpose her coffee table as a sit in dining and have some small seating around it. So we decided to keep that little space open and just add a buffet table from Walmart latest MODRN collection to store the cutlery and give her some storage.

I wanted to give a concrete look on this wall and do modernized Indian touch to it. Priyanka was quite skeptical in having a concrete wall, but I managed to convince her that it would be really good with all the decor we have and I am glad she said yes to the idea. It looks fabulous and this happened to be our favorite space in the whole house.

We added a beautiful brass prabhavali and included some mid century styling decor elements. Just love the way the traditional Indian decor blended with modern decor.

Stairway:

Priyanka wanted to have a nice accent wall added to her stairway space. She loved my mandala decor wall a lot, and she wanted to do something similar to that, so we decided we will have a bright mid-century blue painted to the wall. We found a beautiful metal lotus wall decal in etsy and choose to go with that instead of the regular mandala design.

We have added a mid-century style gold planter in the corner of the space to finish it.

Main Entryway:

Last but not the least the entryway space is the space we want to work on. We had kept this space in sync with the stairway, by painting half of the wall in blue. The idea of painting the wall in half looks different and suits with the design we have decided on. We chose to add mirror panels on the wall and have a floating shelf over the mirror. For this we took peel and stick mirror panels from amazon (shopping list provided in the end)

Here is the amazon shopping list that I have created with all the items we have shopped from amazon. I have also provided the links to other items all along my blog for reference. Hope you enjoyed this home tour!! and thank you Priyanka for giving me such a wonderful opportunity to shape your home:)
