Tranquil Master Retreat – Arched wallpaper

Bedroom renovation series – Part 2

This master bedroom renovation holds a special place in my heart. It serves as a reflection of what we are currently vibing with and is a zen-like space where we can retreat to at the end of a busy day and feel relaxed and calm.

The farmhouse-style decor that once adorned the room has been replaced by a minimalist, light, and serene juxtaposition of wall panels and wallpaper. A simple L-shaped panel was elevated with the addition of rounded edges that add an extra touch of panache to the space. With subtle backlighting, charming leather detailing, and a subline wallpaper, this room has been brought to life with love.

DIY instructions – Wall panel

  1. We used a table saw to create 1/4 × 3/4 × 72 trims, but you can buy the trims that I have linked in the material list and make small slits using a Japanese hand saw.
  2. Soak the trims in water for a couple of hours.
  3. Begin bending the trim slowly, starting from one side, to achieve a curved shape.
  4. Nail the trim to the edge of the plywood sheet from one side, continuing to bend the trim, and secure it with additional nails.
  5. Apply spackling to cover any small gaps.

This video shows how to achieve a perfect arch trim.
