Hello everyone! First time ever I am participating in the one room challenge as a guest participant. I am so excited to be part of this event. This is a biannual event hosted by BetterhomesandGardens as a community based design challenge for all nationwide designers where all the participants have to finish a room makeover within 6 to 8 weeks and share weekly updates. This is not a competition but just a friendly way of expressing your design talent and showcase yourself.
This is great opportunity for me to showcase by design talent and a lovely opportunity to make a connection with my followers. So for this challenge I would like to work on my living room fireplace shelving. This project has been a long pending project since 2 years and we never got chance to get to it. I thought this was a perfect timing to work on it .
LIVING ROOM BEFORE
The modern fireplace you see on the wall was an upgrade with our builder. They did have choices for the fireplace wall but we did not like their options so we decided to get it done after closing. The stone upgrade was done immediately after closing, and we got the stone from home depot. I am linking the stone we used for our fireplace below.
I have had a lot of requests asking me sources for my existing furniture, rug and TV wall rock. so here you go.
ORC MAKEOVER PLANS
I originally thought I would do some concrete on the huge wall left to the fireplace and add some shelving. But then concrete was overpowering the elegant stone look we have in there. So I am planning on doing something with lighter shades of color and that’s when I encountered the reeded/fluted wall trending on Instagram and I decided to try that.
Here are some inspirations that I have saved from Pinterest that matches the idea I had in mind.
If you ask me to browse through Pinterest for inspirations, I will do it forever :). These are some jaw dropping designs that I am taking inspirations from. My design will be a mix of metal and wood and keep the color as light as possible to elevate the elegant fireplace stone I have. So keep checking out this space for more updates coming in this week.
And don’t forget to checkout the lovely featured designers and see what they have planned for this ORC and do checkout the mood boards of all the lovely designers that are participating!!
So from all the lovely inspirations, I picked my choice. The lighting and rugs selections are all from sponsored products that I am going to feature through the process in my blog and on instagram. Stay tuned for all sources guys!!!
Good luck Divya.. can’t wait to see how it turns out
Thank you lakshmi
