Repurposed Settee

When you are up for an reupholstery project, you should be ready to see all the unseen. This is what exactly happened with this settee. We originally thought that we just have change the top fabric and is going to be quite simple.

Once we removed the top layer, we noticed there are all these rusted springs and old dusty foam underneath…Ewwww, exactly 😖.

So we started ripping off each and every part and added slats across the two ends to support a plywood sheet over it. It looks much better and sounds much sturt architecture than those rusted springs 🤐

The fun part begins in painting down the piece with annie sloan chalk paint. We mixed some old white to antives green to get a pastel green mint shade.

We cut a plywood sheet and cut the upholstery foam ( you can get that in joanns, I got it from amazon for about the same price I got in joanns for sale…it just saved me a trip 🙈)

Cut some extra batting (got it from amazon again) to make sure it covers all corners with extra cushion support.

Fold it over and staple it using upholstery staple

Cut the additional batting in the corner and make it like a gift wrap fold and staple it again.

Now cut the fabric you are looking to reupholster and staple it all over.

Just have to pull the fabric tight enough while stapling. Make sure it not too tight that it could tear up the fabric.

Cut the edges and gift wrap it again.

Corners need an extra pull for tight finish.

And this finishes the upholstery part. Quite simple isnt it 😉😎

We used the existing back fabric to cover the playwood. Luckily this was the only part which was nice from the old piece of furniture 🤣.

And finially just fix the plywood to the slats underneath and its all done!!!
